1: You need an Edge.

Information is essential, as a sports punter you can never have enough information, whether your betting on horse racing, football or Hockey you need information, from the latest injuries to weather conditions and of course the teams most recent form and confidence. It may not seem essential but I can tell from years of experience it’s essential! Thankfully most of the hard work is done for you these days with a world of resources at your disposal with the internet and press.

2: You Need a Method.

Having had my bank wiped out on more than one occasion I talk from experience when I tell you most of the betting methods out there are bogus. Sadly I had to waste thousands of pounds trying numerous methods to realize this. Football methods, horse racing methods, NBA methods, you name it I tried them all. So how can you take the emotion out of gambling? Well over the years I have developed a few tricks so that I know when I am getting emotional and have a break and am now winning more than I lose.

Also now, when I purchase a new ‘system’, I don’t just jump straight in and bet the house on it.
I still look at new systems on a regular basis but now my approach is much more ‘businesslike’ than it was before and I always know when to take the hit and walk away. It may well be a case of taking three steps forward and two steps back but it means that I’m still one step ahead!

Ask yourself – can you afford to lose?

There is no such thing as a system that wins all the time. How you handle the times when you are not winning is the key. Take emotion out of the equation and believe me, you will keep on winning by learning when to accept a loss.
